We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Increase supported ADMIN_MODE_USERS by moving list from onconfig to table
Parameter ADMIN_MODE_USERS handy during migrations. the ability to make the database available for a subset of users is great for post migration validation. However the length of the field (127 bytes) is a limitation that ends up being somewhat mi...
Character length semantics instead of byte length semantics
We want to store UTF8 text data into our database but using byte length semantics is counter intuitive on the char and varchar types. We are using Fourj's Genero tool to develop our application and Genero is able to switch to character length sema...
Need a function or pseudo-field to return the number of elements in a BSON array
Put in simplest terms, if I have a JSON/BSON record with an embedded array, I need to know how many elements are in the array. I need a function similar to bson_size() (which returns the string length of the total array) which instead returns the ...
In the below the foreign key does not use the compound index. Another index is created with adds overhead. create table p1 (t char(4) not null);
create unique index px1 on p1(t);
alter table p1 add constraint primary key (t) constraint p1_pk;
With the following the existing compound index is not used for the foreign key and another index is required. This adds overhead with additional maintenance. create table p1 (t char(4) not null);
create unique index px1 on p1(t);
alter table p1 ...
Make adoption of forest-of-trees indices easier with existing large tables
Rebuilding an index as a FOT is not supported using "alter fragment on index init". This would be useful to avoid dropping and later re-adding primary keys and referencing foreign keys. Building a FOT index is not possible in parallel. Building a ...
Consolidate free space across entire chunk or dbspace
I suggest a repack-like tool which consolidates free space in an entire chunk or dbspace in order to get few, big enough, free spaces to use efficiently. Being able to do so online and with little blocking is desirable
Current, for L1 (or L2) backups we need to read all pages. This is highly inefficient and there are alternatives for implementing this.In the PMR we've been told this matches old FEA idsdb00010525. In this the proposed solution was to maintain a t...
HQ add essential incidents/events/status tracking and alerting
HQ is on its way to be a great monitoring tool. In order to ensure it is, here are some important features to add (not sure I could see them on FC3).
Let's first deal with missing essential alerts:- include notion of warning and critical inciden...
