We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Improve timestamp format in message and backup logs (ISO-8601)
Streaming messages to log ingestion systems, e.g. Elastic Stack, is a useful way of analysing logs and generating notifications when certain messages are seen. Displaying the messages in the right order when daylight saving switches occur is an is...
enhancements to sysprocedures table and dbschema utility
Currently, there does not appear to be anything in the sysprocedures table to identify which procedures are provided by Informix (system routines) vs those created by users (user routines). The mode column does not appear to address this particula...
More efficient unique indexes for monotonically increasing keys and constraints
Currently an index on a SERIAL and other monotonically increasing keys only add to the last node in the index causing the node to split into two half filled nodes. Eventually a sufficient number of nodes have so split that the index's search effic...
Add support for an asynchronous/non-blocking Java API
Add support for an asynchronous/non-blocking Java API called Reactive Relational Database Connectivity (R2DBC) (https://r2dbc.io/). The R2DBC driver list includes several DBMS, but not Informix. Customer case: In Huge systems with lots of users se...
In a system with more one NUMA node sometimes best to have all memory allocated on the first NUMA node for performance.
E.g. With 2 NUMA nodes with 300Gb each, pin the lowest number CPU VPs pinned to the first NUMA node and allocate all hugepages...
When running storage optimizations tasks (compress, repack, shrink, defragment) there is no way to monitor the progress of the task. If the table involved is a huge table, this task could run for several days and there is no way to know the task s...
