We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Incremental backup of db2 should do INCREMENTAL backup of Large Objects (Blobs, Clobs etc). I am referencing this two limitations:1. If a table space contains long field or large object data and an incremental backup is taken, all of the long fiel...
Remove EACCES errors when restoring into different instance on same machine
When restoring a database without automatic storage with redirected restore on a machine where the former tablespace paths exist (but are owned by another UID) the redirected restore generates multiple "EACCES (13) PERMISSION DENIED ERRORS" within...
New Database Parameter to Open Db2 for LUW Backup Files in Read-Only Mode for Deleting It
Refer to case TS005462380 for more details. Due to the rise in hackers targeting backup data files, our company has implemented Retention Lock on all backup files, including Db2 database backup files and archive log files, by changing the file per...
Recover should better support offline backups. Using a log archive mode database it is possible to restore an offline backup using recover. It is necessary to specify the 'End Time' of the offline backup, otherwise recover would choose an older ...
Allow to access a database during a pause in a roll forward
During a roll forward, it will be helpful to access the database in read mode in order to identify the point where to open the database. If it is not the desired point, then apply more logs, until find the desired point.
DB2 is not able to repair a single bad page, i.e. to perform a page-level recovery. This causes a downtime because the only solution is the execution of the OFFLINE procedures, like RESTORE/RECOVER/db2dart.
In a shared instance, (multiple DBs serving different applications) its almost impossible to DROP a database, without having to shutdown the entire Instance.
In order to drop the database, it must be deactivated, otherwise it fails.
Support log switch under SET WRITE SUSPEND EXCLUDE LOGS
Today Db2 cannot switch to a log file while write suspend. Therefore a archive log gets performed at beginning of write suspend. Then the write suspend can only last and the database can only work until 1 log file gets full. The time a database is...
