IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Platform switch Windows-Linux using OFFLINE database backup image

A platform switch from Windows to Linux (or Linux to Windows), would be much easier if one can use the DB2 backup image itself. Not necessary between two different DB2 versions, and it doesn't have to be an online backup, and of course platforms a...

New ARCHIVE LAG TARGET parameter request.

DB2 doesn't have the parameter which will ensure that each archived log file contains no more than n seconds of changes (like Oracle's ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET), for example, 1800 seconds. So, if DB2 will fill up the log file before the expiration of 18...

RECOVER the database into the Alternate location.

We have a lot of cases when we need to RECOVER the database to the alternate location/paths. The RECOVER command doesn't support the relocation of the database.

Page-level recovery request.

DB2 is not able to repair a single bad page, i.e. to perform a page-level recovery. This causes a downtime because the only solution is the execution of the OFFLINE procedures, like RESTORE/RECOVER/db2dart.

automatic maintenance backup -> more backup options(RIMS)

My customer asked how he can configure the automatic maintenance backup in detail (for example PARALLELISM or BUFFERS). It seems that this is NOT possible at the moment. You can only configure some simple options like the target path for example, ...

Enhance Granularity; Manageability; and Restartability of Redirected Restores(RIMS)

We need the ability to be able to restart a redirected restore from the point of any failed step rather than going back to the very beginning and rerunning the entire operation. Further we would like the ability to provide container paths without ...
