IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

XML Schema 1.1

DB2 PureXML does not support XML Schema Version 1.1, although it would be very useful. XML Schema Version 1.1 goes far to correct numerous inadequacies in XML Schema Version 1.0 for extensibility of data models in order to meet future needs.

Make online REORG respect UTIL_IMPAT_LIM

Currently, an online REORG will run as fast as it can (but I think limited to a single thread). It would useful if we made it respect the utility throttling limit that we have in place for other types of maintenance activities (runstats, backup, re...

Add option :statement rollback is able to release the locks for the failed statement.

When -803 ( violating unique key constrain ) happen on a statement, there are two things happen1) db2 still hold the lock on the row accessed by the statement that cause -803 , no matter the statement had fail.2) The transaction was not rollbacked...

Support mixed row/column environments without requiring CUR_COMMIT=ON

We have recently run into a problem when we enable Cur_commit because of the locking behavior expected by some applications (they expect blocking). Therefore, we have to disable CC, but then that app cannot use blu. We want to give our plant the...

Lock data partition

Currently it is merely possible to lock a complete table by means of the "lock table" statement. However, for range partitioned tables, it would be beneficial to be able to lock a specific data partition. That is, a statement like: “lock data par...

increase DB2 sector size used to write to disks from 512 to 4096

We would like DB2 to use a larger sector size when writing to disks. We uncovered a performance issue when working with DSSD from EMC where to achieve the maximum write throughput a 4096 sector size is required, Db2 currently uses 512 sectors.MS...
