IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Fairshare dynamic priority to use job count instead of job slots

The fairshare formula uses job_slots with RUN_JOB_FACTOR. Looking to have a formula that uses a job_count that represents only the number of jobs (excluding the slots or tasks requested per job). A scenario for this is when a queue is set up t...

GPU Guaranteed Resource Reservation

Currently Guaranteed Resource Pools in LSF can fulfill SLAs based on slots, memory, licenses, or packages (slots + memory). With more demand for GPU resources in a cluster, it would be beneficial to add GPU resources to a Guaranteed Resource Pool....

Modify cgroup memory limit of running job

With "bsub -M ..." LSF can use cgroups to limit the amount of memory a job can use. Unfortunately, bmod cannot change this for running, despite the cgroups do support modifying this.

Set a limit in the MC receive queue

TSMC is using MC to balance work load between clusters. When the submission cluster is busy, it forwards some jobs to execution clusters. The execution cluster has it's own workload except the forwarded jobs. To avoid the forwarded jobs occupy mos...

Enhance GSLA to enable in-queue preemption

The Guaranteed SLA system allows sharing of Resources defined by ServiceClasses. We would like to use that to allow two or more groups to pool and share compute slots, wherein they typically unused slots would be available to all of the groups. ...

Add support to Kerberos ticket with new "renew-until" date for already submitted jobs

While using Kerberos ticket forwarding on a LSF cluster: Currently TGT found on the submission host is copied to LSF cache and forwarded to the execution host at job submission; These tickets can be renewed automatically by LSF until the TGT "rene...

Normalize and Remove SELECT "OR" clause in Effective Reservation Requirements

When a job that is pending for a -R "select[this || that]" should be normalized to either select[this] or select[that] upon dispatch so that the user can tell what set of requirements were used to dispatch the job, but this is not currently the be...

When submitting a job to a CGROUPv2 Compatible System Modify cpu.shares based upon the task count requested by the job

LSF would support CGROUPv2 better, if it adjusted the number of CPU shares for a job based upon the number of cpus/tasks requested by the job.
