We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas

Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Allow MAX_PDQPRIORITY to be configurable per user.
We want to Informix to be able to use PDQ but we would not want 3rd party logins to be able to use PDQ and impact processing. The existing onconfig parmeter should be a default is it is not defined for the user.
Evaluate using io_uring for I/O in Informix Linux Platform
Create some performance tests and evaluate an architecture change in Informix to migrate AIO or Kernel AIO to using kernel io_uring Maybe it's not possible to use io_uring in Informix and nowadays, performance increase from using IO_DIRECT KAIO to...
Developers have the Informix Client SDK installed on their workstations / application development machines.
There is the need to be able to dump the Informix databases schemas definitions, but the SDK does not provide any such tool.

Some customers are constrained and need to continue to use Informix 32-bit CSDK drivers. Their applications currently use the Informix 32-bit libraries & there are often build constraints to moving to a 64-bit CSDK.
When removing unused indexes the first step we want is to be able to make index invisible to queries similar to the Oracle feature. As the index is still being maintained the rollback to make the index visible to queries is quick.
Every query which need to group by and concat few columns is impossible with informix. For example for this SQL : select t.tabname, c.constrname
from sysconstraints c, systables t , outer syschecks k
where t.tabname = 'my...

Ability to sync tables to HDR & RSS secondaries when converting from RAW to STANDARD mode.
It is significantly faster to load a table in TYPE(RAW) mode than TYPE(STANDARD) mode. However, this option is not practical for sites using HDR and/or RSS secondary servers for replication as RAW mode tables do not replicate forcing the site to b...
If a customer needs to change the locale of a database, wants to standardize to a common locale etc then the only option is to unload the data and reload. On small databases this might be possible but for 99% of the real systems this is impractica...
