Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Enable DVM Studio to be able to quickly capture environment data needed for problem resolution
We are sometimes asked to provide detailed information for a Case we have opened on DVM. Information includes the current build, IN00, trace browse, map definitions and sometimes the underlying data that is causing the issue. If functionality wa...
Utilize IMS Dynamic Allocation Library for IMS Direct access
Currently DVM requires that RECON datasets be utilized for IMS Direct access. RECON datasets are not used in our test environments since DBRC is not enabled. The same information can be pulled from the dynamic allocation libraries, which are typ...
Provide the ability to update DVM Virtual data using Db2
Currently DVM supports the creation of UDTF's on DVM virtual tables. This provides the customer with the ability to use Db2's SQL engine and Read DVM Data. This proposal is to add functionality to DVM to support updating DVM virtual tables usin...
Allow configuration to specify hlq for MMAP and MFL datasets
Currently, when users are creating a Web Service directory, they are prompted to provide a High Level Qualifier for the MMAP dataset. If they provide their own ID, DVM will successfully create the dataset, but does not have access to it resulting...
Only allow access to AVZMAPP files in the context of DVM (Studio, ISPF, etc.)
Currently, developers must be granted read/write access directly to the MAP datasets in order to create virtual tables. Developer access to these datasets should only be allowed within the context of the DVM provided interfaces (DVM Studio, ISPF...
Allow DVM to access alternative credentials from a RACF or ICSF repository instead of using global variables
We would like for DVM to be able to seamlessly access RACF in order to retrieve alternative credentials for users that are accessing data behind LDAP security.
The current solution is to use AVZDRATH utility to create the alternative credential...
Ability for DVM subsystem started task ID use an alternative ID when connecting to other systems (DB2, IMS, JGate, etc.)
The ID that we use to run DVM is not able to connect to other systems (DB2, IMS, JGate, etc.) via password, passticket, etc. During startup, DVM attempts to connect to these systems in order to collect metadata. These connections fail, which cau...
Create utility to generate encrypted password in the same manner as AVZDRATH
Currently, AVZDRATH has the ability to take in an encrypted password as input, however there are no other utilities available to generate the encrypted password outside of AVZDRATH. Since our DVM support team will be responsible for managing the ...
Studio enhancement to add a "Validate SQL" action in the right-click context menu for the SQL Editor
This would be similar to the current "Execute SQL" action, except a SQL on one or more selected statements would be performed, and the results would be written to the SQL Messages tab (success or SQL Exception).
For Japanese customers, Japanese translation of user interfaces, such as messages, help texts, GUI and CUI panels are required in addition to product manuals. For example, Japanese translation of the following components, are needed; - GUI (graphic...
SQL Engine enhancement to support "Db2 mode" SQL syntax rules
(This IDEA item was written based on my own experience in DVM POC test at customer site.)
In DVM, SQL syntax rules are based on ANSI-92 standard, not on Db2 for z/OS rules, even in the case where DVM virtual table is defined on Db2 for z/OS table...
