We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Many times a DBA is called to check upon a slow process. Most of the times those processes are running a slow query.Sometimes it's hard to know if the query is using the best query plan or not. A DBA can reproduce the query, but it it was prepared...
We are trying to increase the usage of SP in our system environment. Migrating business code from 4GL to the database. But this process becomes very painful for our developers since the support for SPL is limited. Mainly the inexistence of a native...
Allow placement of tablespace BYTE and TEXT data in a separate dbspace from the table's base row data.
Allow specifying a normal dbspace for a BYTE or TEXT column to isolate IOs for the blob data from main row data for the table. This would be logged space just like IN TABLE as opposed to IN blobspace blob pages.
When no suitable index is created, the optimizer does an "auto create index" for the query. This proposed index should be printed out to the online.log to help the admin to create the optimized indexes for the queries.
Within Informix the username is defined as char(32). The Informix feature "Informix trusted context" enable Informix to be used with Federated Authentication, in such cases the impersonated user is identified using an email address. In view of thi...
We would like to use incremental backups with 'onbar'. However this is difficult because we use storagepools and chunks can be added at any time. Once a chunk has been added this forces a L0 backup of at least the dbspace concerned and the root db...
Informix has a rows/page limit of 255 rows/page. Perhaps this was not a problem originally but over time we have seen new features: larger page sizes (up to 16 kB against 2 kB or 4 kB previously, dependent on operating system). compression option....
Allow Informix to accept Non PAM aware clients to connect when using PAM PASSWORD mode
Standard Informix Authentication on unix will perform a getpwnam() call to retrieve the encrypted shadow password from the OS, it will then compare an encrypted version of the password supplied by the client against this, and if they match, authen...
L0 and L1 backups of informix are taking almost same time since it seems that is limited by disk reading performance: we are using IBM spectrum backup to backup.
From IFX logs we see that they are using /usr/informix/server12/bin/onbar_d...
