Usually our Db2 backs up to storage server or natively. Occasionally we restore a Db2 system in another operating center from where we have to access to the storage server for Restore/rollforward. In the target environment the Db2 archive logs are...

Parallelize the logs in the online backup image

If you have a large amount of transaction logs created during an online backup operation, and logs are include in the backup image, at the end of the backup Db2 adds the log files to the backup file. Right now it appears to be a serialized operati...

Direct read of Archive logs from TSM server when using db2 rollforward on crossnode restore operations

Usually our Db2 backups to TSM. Occasionally we restore a Db2 system in another operating center from where we have to access to the TSM server for Restore/rollforward. In the target environment the Db2 archive logs are extracted via db2adutl afte...

Verify OVERFLOWLOGPATH is valid at the BEGINNING and allow override in RESTORE DATABASE command.

When restoring a DB2/LUW database Db2 currently restores the database and then abneds if the OVERFLOWLOGPATH is invalid. A restore can take many hours and having the restore fail at the end of the restore wastes all those hours.

Restore Critical Files [only]

In case of a mistakenly deletion of files in/below the instance home directory of Db2 it should be possible to restore [only] these files/directories etc. At the moment if files/directories are mistakenly deleted, a complete database restore would...

Rewind the current database from logs

Opposite to roll forward, it will be great to have the possibility to perform a rewind of a database (in roll-forward state or normal one), to a previous state with the logs. It will be like uncommit, or a general rollback.

Allow to access a database during a pause in a roll forward

During a roll forward, it will be helpful to access the database in read mode in order to identify the point where to open the database. If it is not the desired point, then apply more logs, until find the desired point.
