We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Post your ideas
Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Create a cdr client log that logs cdr command start and exit status
Cisco currently uses the CDR_FEATURES LOGCOMMANDS feature and redirects CDR client stderr and stdout to their application log file. The problem is when a CDR command fails due to a client side error, the server message log does not have any indica...
DSN_PROFILE_TABLE should work corrid/Jobname with IDAA
We like to exclude selectively jobs from runing on the IDAA via DSN_PROFILE_TABLE. Right now you can use AUTHID, PLANNAME, COLLID, PKGNAME, LOCATION but not CORRID (jobname). In our data warehouse application we have many thousend of jobs running ...
CATMAINTs and ENFM REORGs causes major disruption if running alongside current workload. Continuous availabilty requirements means sign-off for planned DB2 outages (version upgrades or catalog reorgs) are very difficult to obtain/justify.

Provide table function that collects DSN1COMP data
For sake of brevity, I will confine this request to DB2 index compression analysis, but it also applies to tablespaces. When have more than 100,000 indexes in our various Production DB2 systems. We want to know which of these indexes are the most ...
I would like to create a "non-inline" SQL function that delivers a result set in DB2 for Z.
I would like to create a "non-inline" SQL function that delivers a result set in DB2 for Z. At the current time, this type of SQL function can be created on a DB2/LUW platform but the DB2/Z platform lacks this function. I look in the DB2/LUW manua...
Character length semantics instead of byte length semantics
We want to store UTF8 text data into our database but using byte length semantics is counter intuitive on the char and varchar types. We are using Fourj's Genero tool to develop our application and Genero is able to switch to character length sema...
ACCESSING A REMOTE TABLE REFERENCED BY A SYNONYM GIVES ERROR 926 WITHIN XA ENVIRONMENT
When we are in an XA environment, and we execute a query against a synonym for a remote server, we get an error -926. This error does not occur when using local tables. The error also does not occur if using a non-XA connection against the synonym...
Other drivers (Informix JDBC / Open Link etc) have the ability to automatically TRIM trailing spaces from character fields - we badly need the same feature applied to ODBC. We note that the VARCHAR / NVARCHAR equivalent has just been added to ODBC...
Just recently while working on a customer we were able to speedup a very slow query by using the recently introduced OLAP functions. The query looks like this: SELECT col1, col2, col3, col4, rank() over (partition by col1, col2 order by col4 desc)...
