We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
We'd like to have a new ZPARM to limit the max number of version for packages. Once this number is reached a new version replaces the older one. Otherwise a COMMAND like MODIFY to facilitate DBA in housecleaning
Allow Exclude criteria to be directly specified in ADB2GEN
We are driving automation by dynamically building a list of objects to 'GEN' the DDL for. However we also need to dynamically build a list of objects to exclude. Currently ADB2GEN only allows reference to a pre existing exclude which has to be cre...
Allow for Altering the Partitioning Columns Through Panels
When altering the columns involved in partitioning a table, several steps must be done which introduces complexity and potential for errors. This is the current provided solution: Do a GEN on the table and save the generated DDL. Adjust the partit...
Generic Ignore for New v12 Columns on SYSTABLESPACE and SYSINDEX
v12 introduced additional columns on SYSTABLESPACE and SYSINDEX which match attributes that were previously present on SYSTABLEPART and SYSINDEXPART, respectively. When a source object has been created in v12 is compared to a target object which w...
We have several tables that contain LOB columns and thus also a generated rowid column. If an extra column is added, it will be placed at the end. If we now generate DDL for a table with a LOB column via ADB2GEN, then the generated rowid column is...
Support for Bind avoidance when using Enterprise Cobol with co-processor
The basic idea of Bind Avoidance is to exchange the consistency token in the executing code from the current version to the previous which means that no package bind will be necessary.
Traditionally the Db2 pre-compiler has been used to pre-proce...
Currently, we have either the DDL or GEN commands to view the object definition. We would like GEN to be online (currently batch only) or have a new command. The action should produce the data in an online format (temporary dataset) for viewing or...

Add enhancement to syntax check SQL, DDL, DML before execution. Recently attended presentation of Db2 DevOps Experience for z/OS and it has a 'Smart Editor' which performed these checks. I asked about it and was told it is using macros from the DB...
