Update Business Terms in Catalog

If a business term name is updated, the catalog asset linked to the original business term should also reflect the new name.

Ex: first draft business term (published): Medical Record Number, linked to 6 data assets in the Default catalog.

second draft business term (also published): Medical Record Number (MRN), linked to 3 new data assets in the Default catalog.

When searching the catalog for 'Medical Record Number', i see two results pop up in business term search - one with the old and one with the new spelling. This causes extreme confusion.

Each of the 6 assets with the original link to 'Medical Record Number' needs to be manually updated to reflect 'Medical Record Number (MRN)' even though they are the same business term, one just with an updated spelling.

With thousands of table-level assets and hundreds of thousands of column-level assets, this is simply unmanageable.

Susanna, are you aware if a fix for this will be available in an upcoming version? Thanks

Susanna, can you share the Epic ID or number with me so that I can use it to communicate with our support team?

Hi Emma - I didn't receive an email that said you commented on the case, apologies for the delay.

We edited a business term and published the edit, so the business term showed a new name. In the glossary we only saw 1 term "Medical Record Number (MRN)" and yes, Cloud Pak for Data. We're now on version 3.5.3.

    Thank you Susanna

Hi Emma and Grace, this looks like a known defect. I've associated this Aha Idea to the related epic.

The team is already looking into this.

    Regards,

    Susanna

Hi - Unfortunately since I have not heard back, I'm going to mark this as not under consideration. If you receive this message, please provide details, so we can reproduce the problem to better understand the issue.

Hi - Do you have two business terms published at the same time to reflect the same thing? Or did you edit a business term and publish that edit, so the business term shows the new name? When you look at your business glossary, do you see both "Medical Record Number" and "Medical Record Number (MRN)"? Or do you only see "Medical Record Number (MRN)"? Are you using Cloud Pak for Data?
