VSAM insight AI agent on IBM Z

At Fall 2025 AI Council, Mandeep Kapoor from Citibank expressed interest in a VSAM agent (similar to Db2 Agent that is in-plan) for watsonx assistant for Z.

Client indicated that VSAM databases on IBM Z holds critical business data, yet extracting actionable insights from them remains a challenge due to their complex structure and legacy interfaces.  Operational teams often lack the tools and time to analyze these datasets efficiently, especially for tasks like finding records similar to a given input. An AI agent designed to interpret VSAM data and provide intelligent insights—such as similarity detection, pattern recognition, and anomaly identification—can dramatically reduce manual effort, improve decision-making, and unlock hidden value from mainframe data. This capability ensures faster analytics, better compliance, and enhanced operational agility without requiring deep mainframe expertise.
