If a user is logged into Controller Web, but pauses using it (leaving it on screen but idle) they will get a problem if they don't click on anything (in Controller Web) for more than 60 minutes.
If using Native authentication, it will just return them to the logon screen (no error)
If using CAM authentication, it will give a "Real time updates are not working. Please log in again" error, then return to the logon screen.
In the Controller Web 'backend' log file ( “com.ibm.cognos.fcm.log”), 1 hour after the last time that the end user did anything in the system, you will see an entry similar to the following:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2022-07-04 18:46:22 | | INFO | [com.ibm.cognos.fcm.wmc.ccrws.DefaultCcrClient] [CCR-WS] Logging out user ADM@mysqlserver\ControllerLive...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the avoidance of doubt, the user is not ejected 1 hour after logging into Controller Web. Instead, they are ejected 1 hour after they last clicked on a menu item (did anything constructive) in Controller Web.
Typical scenario: User goes to lunch for 1 hour and 1 minute.
We raised this as a support ticket, but were told this 60 minute value was not configurable, and we needed to raise an enhancement request.
=> We would like you to have a configuration setting somewhere, so we can increase the Controller Web timeout (e.g. to 2 or 4 or 10 hours or whatever)
