Investment Elimination Template - restrict to accounts on the control table

When entering the investment elimination template/journal for automatic elimination of investments, the parent’s investment side of the investment elimination template is straightforward as the investment account is usually automatically selected and populated as the reverse of the investment entered to the investment register.   But, the subsidiary side of the elimination template/journal needs to be selected by the user and all accounts in the account structure are available for selection.  If the user is not familiar with the accounts that are contained in the control table - E105 – Elimination of investments, subsidiary, they can select an account that is not included in this control table, has not been added to the control table or even accidently select the wrong account.

The outcome of selecting an account that is not in the E105 control table, is that on consolidation the elimination on the subsidiary side is incomplete leaving the subsidiary side not fully eliminated and the offset account not netting to zero.

To prevent this from occurring, can you make the selection of accounts on the subsidiary side of the investment elimination template/journal, limited to the accounts in the E105 control table or have a warning when a user attempts to post in the elimination template to an account that is not listed in the E105 control table.

This request is for Controller Classic also Controller Web when the Investment Elimination Template completion is added to Controller Web.

We will consider this when we migrate the feature to Controller Web. We may instread of restricting the account from being selected (if it is not in say E105) and instread highlight it in red (and add a tool tip) to warn the user that they need to update the control tables.
