Method to disable 'Select Server' prompt (using classic client)

Since Controller 11.0.1 FP2 IF2, the classic client now gives an extra 'Select Server' prompt/choice as soon as a user launches the client.

  • The 'select server' selection screen appears *before* the 'Select Database' section (where the user chooses their database)

This extra question is rather annoying for most customers (who just have one/production environment). Even if a customer has 2 environments, 95% of end users will only use the 'production' environment (so it's a pointless extra click for them)

=> Please can you improve the functionality in the future, to allow disabling the 'select server' option for some/most end users?

I suggest that there should be a button similar to "Maintain - Database - Database Selection Mode" (for example called "Maintain - Database - Server Selection Mode") which toggles on/off the ability of the end user to see that screen.

  • This setting would then be stored inside the end user's ccr.config file (in their Windows profile) just like the database selection mode currently is.

Many thanks!

Great - many thanks for that link :-)

It looks like that documentation was created very recently (25th Oct 2024) so perhaps it only works for 11.1 onwards.

Anyway, that is good enough for my needs => feel free to close this enhancement request :-)

Hi Richard, it's possible to switch it off at the client level https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/controller/11.1.0?topic=controller-log
