Improve IBM Controller Excel timeout experience

Current Challenge

  • When IBM Controller Excel times out, users face two issues:
    1. Closing the logon pop-up triggers an error (see screenshot "Object reference not set to an instance of an object").
    2. Attempting to log on again without restarting Excel results in another error (see screenshot "System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Exception: invalid_user at Cognos.Controller.".

These interruptions disrupt workflow and create a poor user experience.

Proposed Enhancement

  • After timeout, when the logon pop-up appears:
    • Users can enter their credentials and seamlessly resume IBM Controller functions (e.g., refresh, export).
  • If users choose to close the logon pop-up:
    • IBM Controller should exit gracefully without generating errors.

Expected Benefits

  • Improved User Experience: Eliminates unnecessary errors and restarts.
  • Enhanced Productivity: Users can quickly re-authenticate and continue work.
  • Reduced Support Requests: Fewer error-related tickets and troubleshooting.

The same should apply to IBM Controller window.
