The "date" field reference within the Investment Elimination Template needs to accommodate groups with year ends that are not December, but closing in period 12

To illustrate the current issue, take a group reporting year end against 30 September.  This will then mean that period 2612 belongs to September 2026 for the finance year 25/26.  However, when inputting entry to the investment elimination template, the date field seeks a calendar entry by day, month and year.  An entry of 30/09/2026 is then incorrectly interpreted as a period 2609 entry against June, not September.  To workaround, the entry then needs to be posted as 31/12/2026 to be recognised against period 2612.  

This anomaly causes considerable confusion with the user base.  Equally, the need for a date field reference is completely inconsistent with the period basis that runs through the IBM Controller application for all data entry and reporting.  Yes, this setting has a notional benefit to audit trail or record for investment transactions, but that is it.

Could we please ask for this anomaly to be looked at by the IBM Development Team, assuming not already being done so?  Could this date reference functionality then be improved against as part of the future onboarding of investment elimination accounting from Classic to Web?  

We readily appreciate there is a complicated ask, notably with existing customer usage and data population, meaning any fix could potentially impact the output from existing consolidation models.  As such, could a crossover be provided, similar to path taken with import specs.  Say, method A on Classic holds, until method B on Web substitutes?  For customers where no impact applies (i.e. they're December year end), then transfer from Method A to Method B would presumably be a one off transfer exercise (say copy/paste).  Whereas, customers with this issue then have an option to continue as is (copy across), or grab the moment to clean this record up.

Equally, there may be other solutions.  For instance, the inclusion of an option to reference this date reference within the investment elimination template by "period" format in place of "calendar date" format, and so on.  In summary, the want with this idea addition is to raise the current problem and then seek improvement, very much mindful of the group user now being targeted for more function enablement on Web.
