Row High light when a cell is seletcted

when user select a cell and double click or single click in the List report, the selected row in the list report should get high lighted (the complete row that the cell is selected)

When a list report with many columns is designed say 20 columns + , if one has to scroll from left to right , the user misses the row he is looking at .

Currently we have to output the report in excel format and do , but user wants in html version for some business reasons.

we are trying to convince to high light rows alternatively with different colors and provide a identifier column at the end of the list. But user is not convinced.
