Event Studio allows for deliver professional solutions. Not having it means Cognos is not a professional BI tool anymore.
I read somewhere else that there are no plans to deprecate Even Studio. But Event Studio needs FM to work. So by deprecating FM, Event Studio is useless which ruins the whole Cognos purpose and reduces it a an ad-hoc reporting tool when it was a technology leader.
This is sorely needed. IBM has basically abandoned Event Studio without creating a replacement. The enterprise features of Cognos is one of the things that still differentiates Cognos from the competition. Leaving one of the most important functionalities to rot is disappointing.
Either event studio needs to be brought up to date, or a new tool that replicates (and makes easier to use to be honest) needs to be created.
With IBM making the shift from Framework Manager, which creates packages, to data modules, the lack of being able to use them is serverly limiting how we can use Event Studio. We need to have the flexibility to leverage data modules as it will allow us to model up smaller amount of data specific to smaller departments or to specific tasks or activities like bursting a report to a handful of people. Event Studio has not had any major additions in over 10 years so this among other things needs to be reconsidered so that IBM Cognos can remain relavent and useful to the business. Otherwise, customer will continue to look else where for their BI solutions.
Event Studio is widely used by our customers, in order to start delivering Data Modules we need this gap addressed so our customers do not loose functionality by us delivering data modules.
Agreed, Data Modules should be a source for Event Studio.
Couldn't agree more with everyone's comments. This app needs to update to use data modules.
If there are no plans to replace event studio with a new tool that can use both packages and data modules, then event studio must be updated to use data modules.
That is certainly required since triggers based on FM packages were there in Cognos 10, Data Module will become eventually the main source for the reports, dashboards, etc... So Event Studio should be able to accept it as a source
This is a much needed functionality.
Not being able to use Event Studio functionality in with DataModules will slow the adoption of this new technology and increase reliance on Framework Manager.
