Ability to include calculations in navigation paths even if they are not part of a table

Sometimes dashboard authors would like to create a navigation path that includes a calculation that is not within a table. This is necessary when there is logic within the calculation that uses data from 2 or more tables. As a workaround, you can create a View that includes the needed columns from the 2 or more tables but this is not always appropriate and sometimes very cumbersome dependent on the nature of the data module and it's dependent dashboards.

This would be in both DBs and DMs seeing as navigation paths can be defined in both locations already. The use-case is when you have a calculation that you would like to use in a navigation path but the calculation references two or more tables. Today, you have to merge the tables via join or union and then create this calculation as a column in the resulting view in order to use it in a navigation path. This is a lot of trouble especially if tables are large and it defeats the purpose of dimensional modeling to have to force everything into a single massive fact table.

Let me know if an example is needed to help further clarify this point.

If so, I can try to peice this together using sample data.

Appreciate your following up on this!

Can you describe some of the usecases for this? Is it work being done in Dashboard only or will they also have access to DM?
