We have a Line Graph on a Cognos Analytics Dashboard. The x-axis are Dates
We have a metric that falls in one of 3 categories. In the Dashboard UI, I created 4 variables to hold the numbers for each category and 1 for all numbers for all categories. These variables are put into the y-axis.
We then have 2 different line charts.
Graph1: One that shows the total for each category and all categories by Date.
Graph2: One that shows the average for each category and the average for all categories by Date
When you mouse over a data point you see the Date Value and the name of the Variable holding the number along with its value. That value is a Total for Graph1 and an Average for Graph 2. The key piece of information missing is how many numbers went into making the Total or Average. Without this there is no context to the importance of the data points.
