Drop down list with search option prompt in Cognos Analytics

We have installed Cognos 11.1.7 FP2 and our customers want to have the following prompt type in their report: drop down list with CustomerIDs with the possibility to search for a value in the list (using copy+paste option to search for a CustomerID).

Currently, we did not find this type of prompt.

We also noticed that for the standard drop down list, you can also type in one value and you will be pointed to that one, while also keeping the others value visible within the list.

Unfortunately, you are not able to paste one value (copy&paste) if you use this specific prompt.

Since we would like to have a searchable list prompt, we found out that it can be done using Custom Controls with Javascript, based on jQuery.js and sol-{version}.js


Since we would not like to host jQuery as administrators, we opened a PMR:

"TS004984035 Drop down list with search option in Cognos Analytics"

The response is that for prompt customization there is only the Prompt API for IBM Cognos Analytics (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cr_rptstd.doc/c_prmpt_api_overview.html), but the prompt API does not support search prompt control.

In the Custom Controls samples from IBM, there is no such an example with the prompt type that we would need.

In addition, we would not want to use HTML items, as we need Full interactivity in our report.
