When charting Top X categories we should give an option to simply group the other categories and display these on the chart as 'Other'. We'd see the Top X pluse one additional 'Other' category. This could be optional to choose to follow this grouping or to simply show the Top X without an 'Other' category.
This may be most useful in Visualisations, but could also be used in reporting, dashboards, etc.
It could also be an option if a manual grouping or selection of categories is used, not just Top x.

Totally agree! this is such a basic and necessary functionality.
It is not just cool, it's a common requirement.
Similar functionality exists in reporting and has proven it's value.
Fyi as workaround you could in back-end create a calculated top X & Others,
however this is very cumbersome and can become problematic when linking visualisations.
Ex:
- Visual 1: Calculated item "Top 10 Customers & Others"
- Visual 2: Customers
-> When selecting a category in Customer it does not link/filter OK in Visual 2. (The other way around it does.)
This would be a great addition to bar charts & waterfall charts (& probably others).
