More meaning APAR Software version

When reviewing an APAR on IBM site, there is a "Software version" field.

This field invariable lists some meaningless value. For example, https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PH42408?myns=swgimgmt&mynp=OCSSTSF6&mync=E&cm_sp=swgimgmt-_-OCSSTSF6-_-E could be significant to my organization. The document information contains thee following:

Document Information

More support for:
Cognos Analytics

Software version:
B0D

Document number:
6523022

Modified date:
02 December 2021

Note the software version is B0D. There is no version of IBM Cognos Analytics called B0D. The software versions are CA 11.2.1 or 11.1.xx or 10.2.xx or whatever but there are no versions called B0D or B17 or A22 or whatever other meaningless values are contained in this "Software version" field.

Without know which version a defect applies to, I don't know if it is likely to impact on our users.

The request is to have the Software version listed on IBM Cognos Support documents reflect the real world values that customers understand.

It is my understanding that security APARs aren't public so including meaningful affected versions in public APARs shouldn't be a issue.

APARs are often introduced in new versions that didn't exist in previous versions.

I follow recently published APARs. A new APAR is published for version B0D that looks like it might impact my client. My client is on version 11.2.2. I can't tell if the APAR is likely to impact.

APARs will include which version a fix has been delivered in. In general (though not always) the issue will exist in most prior releases.

Publishing details about software versions affected by issues also opens up security issues.
