Remove Default Output Format In Run As And/Or Run In Background Screens

The HTML output format is particularly unsuitable for batch/background runs, which are generally intended for downloading larger data sets for users to work with the data locally. Larger data sets cause the HTML output file size to balloon, and working with data is very difficult in HTML format. So HTML should not be the default option for batch/background report runs.


Previously in Cognos 10, no default output format was selected, when you opened the "Run as" screen and selected "Run in background". Unfortunately in Cognos 11, that screen defaults to the report's default format, which most often means HTML is selected by default. So now, users can run a report in batch/background for HTML output, without having to explicitly select that output format. And they can also select their preferred output format and accidentally cause the report to be run twice. This results in poor user experience (extra clicks; reports aren't delivered) and poor admin experience (extra system monitoring).


Ideally, the "Run As" screen would not have a default format selected. The whole point of clicking "Run As" is that you don't want to run the report with the defaults. At the very least, if the user selects "Run in background", then all output formats should be unchecked, requiring them to explicitly select their desired output format(s).
