Data Module: Combine fact tables (like a presentation layer)

I want to have the capabilities to regroup measures(columns) from different tables into one folder. In other words, having the possibility of using a presentation layer which reference the measures. At the moment, I have to make my user navigate throught 4-5 fact tables instead of a single folder (simplified navigation).

You can create calculations that contain the measure you want and add those calculations to the folder. This can work OK if all the dimension tables are shared but if not, it would be hard for a user to know which fact is in scope with with dimension table.

Star schema grouping design is better in that scenario where a folder contains shortcuts to dimensions that belong to the fact table and those shortcuts are joined to the fact table. The common dimensions can be seen repeating in multiple fact folders and will indicate to a user they can do cross fact queries as long as they include at least an item from one common dimension).

We can consider this idea for a future implementation (perhaps dragging a measure into a new folder to create a new calculated field. )

    Thank you for the feedback!
