COGNOS: AMAZON REDSHIFT INTEGRATION IMPROVMENT

The idea is to improve the integration with Redshift so that Connection Pooling do not need to be turned off.

We know that connection pooling (i.e. the reuse of database connections for subsequent report executions) with Amazon Redshift leads to reports returning outdated data when the Redshift database is updated continuously

This is the exact customer scenario: several branches spread across all continents and a volume of reports executed in the order of several thousands.

The only workaround is to disable the Connection Pooling and set to 1 the idle connection timeout for the QueryService with a potential huge impact on performance!

Amazon has indicated in its support analysis that this behavior is a consequence of how Cognos initiate the transaction.

Further detail of the problem can be found in the associated Support ticket.
