Prebuilt row count function on Cognos Report

We've noticed a challenge with our reports: users often need to gauge the scope of the data they're dealing with, which currently isn't straightforward in Cognos Reporting. While our reports can generate outputs ranging from 10,000 to 3 million records, there's no built-in option to display the total count of processed records.

To provide users with this crucial information, we've implemented custom record counts within the reports. However, this workaround has inadvertently impacted report performance, especially with larger datasets.

To address this issue and enhance user experience, we propose a feature enhancement for Cognos Reporting. This enhancement would introduce a built-in option to display the total number of records processed in the reports, without compromising performance. By seamlessly integrating this feature, users can efficiently assess the scale of their data without any performance overhead, regardless of the dataset size.
