Improvement to Report Bursting: Combine Different Outputs into a single email.

When scheduling a Cognos report you can ask for different output formats to be created, for example HTML, PDF and Excel.

If a report is scheduled and the report output is emails then Cognos will conbine these different outputs into a single email. A schedule recipient will receive a single email with the HTML, PDF and Excel in one email. This is great as the HTML can be used to provide the email body, with the PDF and Excel appearing as attachments.

Contrast this when a report is bursted. If the above report was bursted then a user would receive three distinct emails, one email for the HTML, one for the Excel and one for the PDF. This happens if the report outputs differ for the three outputs - ie the HTML page is a covering note, the glossy PDF report and an Excel data back up.

Why can Cognos combine the three outputs into a single email for normal scheduling, yet can't when bursting?

There is a work around to use Event Studio to combine these outputs into a single email but this is far too complicated for a typical report user who schedules a report to understand.

Note, I am not talking about combining outputs from different burst runs into a single email - but just combining different output formats fom a single burst.
