Support for data type binary for joins in IBM Cognos Analytics data modules and Framework Manager

In relational star schema models it is very common using columns with a hash with type binary(16) for the join condition between dimension table and fact table.

The advantages are a well-chosen hash function will almost always generate unique values, even for large datasets. Binary hashes can sometimes have a more uniform distribution, which can improve query performance.

Some ETL tools do not support the generation of surrogate keys with integer values and then a hash key with type binary is more likely than a hash key with char(32).

I was able to generate a join in Framework Manager using a binary(32) field but when I tried to generate a start schema grouping it failed.

Data types like binary are also useful for handing columns having Boolean values with true and false used in filter conditions.

Please do support binary data types for joins and filter.
