I have found that most users prefer to have report outputs distributed via e-mail as attachments so they can work on and/or re-distribute the output on their own, especially if some of the users included in the distribution do not have access to Cognos Analytics; sending a link would not work for those users. Additionally, sending a link requires that the report be saved to the content store which does nothing but bloat the CS especially when users forget to toggle off the "include link" option when toggling on the include attachment option. I understand that making one or the other option the default for the system can cause different problems depending on the implementation. With that, I would like to be able to set the default option administratively giving the user the option to change it if needed.

It was perfectly working on my 11.2.1 version and support says this functionality changed by IBM without having a sense of doing things. We got a reply like below, this shows how silly IBM handles a product.
"update default option in "advanced options" when report is selected to be mailed to "Include a link to the report" instead of "Attach the report";
This is meant to avoid that endusers accidentally forget to untick the default "Attach the report";
RISK: if current default for C10.2.1 FP4 as "Attach the report" is not unticked hugh attachments might be sent instead of the very lightweight link to the actual report;"
Some one reported a strange requirement and IBM ditched all the customers who is heavily depended on the feature of sending email by attaching the report.
