Real-Time Reporting Capability in IBM Cognos Analytics

I would like to request an enhancement in IBM Cognos Analytics to support real-time data streaming for reporting and dashboards. Currently, Cognos does not natively support second-by-second real-time updates, making it challenging to use for scenarios such as live stock market trading reports.

Current Limitation:

  • Cognos requires manual refresh or scheduled data pulls, which does not provide continuous real-time updates.

  • Real-time streaming features (such as WebSockets) are not natively supported.

  • Workarounds using Custom Controls with JavaScript & Web APIs are complex and require external API integration.

Use Case Example: Real-Time Trading Dashboard

  • Financial organizations require second-by-second updates of stock prices for decision-making.

  • A native solution in Cognos would enable users to track stock market movements in real-time without external scripting.

This feature would significantly enhance Cognos Analytics' usability in industries that rely on continuous real-time insights, such as finance, manufacturing, and IoT applications.

    Good-to-have feature, when doing real-time data analysis. But it should do pull only the latest info and past data should remain as is.
