Report running Cancel dialogue window could have more value with additional options, such as switch format.

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

Report consumers often don't know that they can run a report in their preferred output format. Untrained consumers will typically run a report to HTML, wait for it to run, then use the run in Excel option. If a report takes a long time to run then the consumer is in effect running the report twice rather than once.

We can make it less time consuming to run the report in their preferred output.

When a report runs a dialogue window shows a cancel button. On this window we can show more options.

My idea is to add a preferred output format menu to this cancel window. Next to the cancel button the user can then switch to a different format.  The user can then change to their preferred format whilst the report is running.

Today the user has to :

1. Wait for the report to finish running in HTML, then click the export to Excel button.  This means the user has to run the report twice. Costly on their time and system resources.

2. Cancel the report and rerun in their preferred format. A pain as you have to cancel, and redo the prompts all over again!
