Visualization Properties - Labels

I find inconsistencies in the ability to display labels (items/values/both) on the various dashboard OOTB visualizations. For example, a heat-map appears to have no options to display labels at all. Some have the option to display labels but with no options for where (inside/outside/vertical/horizontal) while others do. It is difficult as a developer/user to have a visualization recommended or selected that seems the best way to communicate a finding only to be frustrated by not being able to build out the visualization in a manner that maximizes its effectiveness. I'd like to see the heat-map with labels and placement and to add label placement options to those visualization that support labels.
