IBM has discontinued bundling iKeyman with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) starting at version 11, with complete removal by JRE 17. This legacy GUI tool was essential for managing SSL keystores in Cognos 12.1.x and Planning Analytics. We propose that IBM include a modern, alternative GUI-based keystore management tool within the Cognos and Planning Analytics packages to replace iKeyman's functionality and bridge the gap left by its discontinuation.

Your idea and why is it useful: iKeyman provided an intuitive visual interface for inspecting and managing SSL keystores, making it invaluable during critical troubleshooting situations and complex SSL installations. While command-line alternatives like keytool exist, they lack the visual clarity and ease of use that iKeyman offered. A GUI-based replacement would streamline SSL diagnostics, reduce implementation time, and enable rapid issue resolution without requiring deep technical expertise in keystore management.

Who would benefit: System administrators, DevOps engineers, and IT support teams managing multiple servers across enterprise environments would benefit significantly. Additionally, non-technical staff involved in SSL troubleshooting would gain the ability to understand keystore contents visually, democratizing SSL issue resolution across organizations.

How should it work: The tool should provide visual keystore inspection capabilities, certificate validation, key pair management, and SSL configuration diagnostics. It should integrate seamlessly with Cognos 12.1.x and Planning Analytics installations, offer intuitive navigation comparable to iKeyman, and support command-line integration for automation where needed.
