Make Cognos Analytics log file rotation triggering policy configurable instead of using the current hard-coded daily cron-based rollover mechanism.

Allow administrators to configure log file rotation trigger policies, including time-based, size-based, and retention-based rollover options as previous version.

Currently, Cognos Analytics uses a hard-coded daily log rollover mechanism implemented through a cron-based triggering policy. Log files are automatically rotated and compressed every day regardless of customer requirements.

This behavior has been reviewed previously and was determined to be working as designed. However, many customers require greater flexibility in log management to align with their operational, storage, compliance, and monitoring requirements.

We would like Cognos Analytics to provide configurable log rotation policies, including:

  • User-defined rollover schedules
  • Size-based rollover policies
  • Time-based rollover policies
  • Configurable retention settings for compressed log archives
  • Ability to enable or disable the default daily rollover behavior

 Providing configurable log rotation policies would improve operational control, simplify log management, and better support customer-specific governance requirements.
