Apache Drill connector for Cognos Analytics

Wells Fargo is in the process of expanding the use of their MapR Hadoop environment to a larger community within Wells Fargo. Potential additional Cognos users could be in the thousands. They are looking for a business analytics solution for their Hadoop data. Since Wells Fargo is already using Cognos BI for other data sources, they asked the IBM account team whether Cognos Analytics can connect to MapR Hadoop via Apache Drill. The response from Product Management is that they have no plans at this time to have such functionality in CA.

    We also use MapR Hadoop Environment and have built Data Lakes and are using Cognos Analytics for reporting needs.  We would also like to provide t self service reporting capability  using Apache Drill connector on the MapR data lthat resides in the data lake.

    We are waiting for this functionality and would enhance the capability of using Cognos. These connectors are available in Tableau and other Analytics Tools which make them little more attractive for self srviicng capabilities.
