Cognos Analytics: Make the help helpful

Cognos Analytics 11.0.x

The help in Cognos Analytics is not helpful. There is a single help icon that always does the same thing. The page it leads to (http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEP7J_11.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.cbi.doc/welcome.html) is not very friendly. The most likely used information (the actual product documentation) is obscured under "More Information".

In Cognos 10.2.1 a user could get context-sensitive help. For example, if the user was editing a report in Report Studio, the help button would display the Report Studio User Guide.

Please make the help system available to the users and actually helpful.




Operating system was a required field, but is completely irrelevant to most requests.

It's odd that IBM wants these listed as requests for new features since they are really features that are present in the previous version and have not yet made it into the current "production-ready" system. These are really bugs.

    In Cognos Analytics 11.1.6 we introduced the new Learn pane, powered by Watson Discovery, that integrates searchable help within the product, and it also provides in-context recommendations. It searches not only the documentation, but our community blog posts and our YouTube channel as well!
