Anywhere search is offered

We've had issues with an unreliable indexing update process resulting in a dysfunctional search. As a result, it's made us realize many of the new features (data modules and other) have a complete dependency on the search to select objects (uploaded files, packages, etc) input to those uses.

I wanted to suggest that IBM has an inconsistency in their product interface, as other areas of portal use are NOT completely dependent on the search like this.

For example, on the main portal page, a user may navigate directly to an object, or use a search. I strongly feel that in every case where the search is found, the interface should also support a manual navigation to objects.

It's a simple matter of consistency, as well as the fact that when the search has some issue like we now have, we are left with no use of the features.
