This was delivered in 11.2.1 and will be available for 11.1.7 FP4.
Does that mean there will be a patch for 11.1.7? Or will I be forced to upgrade to the next broken Cognos in order to edit my Event Studio agents again? I finally have an almost working system, so I don’t want to risk an upgrade.
My experience with Cognos upgrades has not been good. I started with 10.2.1 and skipped 10.2.2 because the apparent benefits (none) didn't outweigh the risk. I skipped 11.0.0 – 11.0.3 because they just didn’t work. 11.0.4 had significant problems. Upgrading from 10.2.1 to 11.0.4 was the worst decision I have made as an IT professional. Basic functionality was completely broken again in 11.0.5 and 11.0.6. Using 11.0.7 I discovered more hidden “features” that weren’t fixed until 11.0.13 FP3. Likewise, I skipped 11.1.0 – 11.1.7 because none of them were actually functional. I’m using an interim fix of 11.1.7 and getting complaints from my users. I think half of them want to go back to 10.2.1. The other half want to go back to the reporting tool we used before Cognos. And I have already seen that some of the new features in 11.2.0 make it unusable by my users.
It will be nice when IBM remembers that computers and software don't exist solely to provide IT folks with gadgetry. They are intended to help people make their businesses more efficient. Testers should not include IT staff at all. They should be people who have conversations with legislative members, people to manage inventory of roadway deicing materials, people who supervise groups of wetland biologists, etc.
Keep an eye on this Idea as we have plans for Chrome and Edge for some of our legacy studios
We are upgrading to CA 11.1.7 and Edge and Chrome support for Event Studio is critical for our 6000+ customers.
Event Studio needs to be able to function with all browsers. IE 11 is supports ends November 2020 so there needs to be alternate support for Event Studio.
@Richard Chester: totally aggree with you. This should have to be adressed by IBM Cognos Dev as soon as they can.
Its absurd that you have no plans for replacing Event Studio, but you only support it in a browser that was end of life years ago. This needs to be a priority!
