Deployment and Versioning with Cognos Analytics

We use various COGNOS components, which are however to be seen as parts of an overall product. Reports, framework manager packages, TM1 cubes, etc. are interdependent and must be handled accordingly.
In concrete terms, this means that consistency must be ensured both for versioning and for deployment across all releases.

- Artifacts related to sources
- Artifacts related to a release

In the current versions of the components from the Cognos Suite, this can only be ensured manually and not uniformly. Especially in the administration of the sources, to which we are obliged, we show clear weaknesses and in some cases cannot be guaranteed at all, or only by organizational instructions. In some cases, this results in a rights/role conflict (developer vs administrator)

In an enterprise system we expect an integrated solution for a comprehensive versioning and deployment system.

The components used by us and therefore to be regarded as a logical unit are

- Planning Analytics (incl. PAX and Perspectiv)
- Cognos Analytics (incl. Analysis Studio and Explore)
- Planning Analytics Workspace
- Framework Manager
