Delete vs Write vs Full

Within the permissions of an object, we now have a hierarchy of security -- Read, Run, Write and Full.

In previous versions, we had 5 permissions - Read, Execute, Traverse, Write and Policy (still kind of have this in the admin piece) but...

In all versions, there should be a distinction between having WRITE vs DELETE access to an object.

Sure you can change an object - modify the name, create/modify or remove a schedule -- but should you also be able to DELETE that object?

In Windows and other operating systems, -- there is a distinction between MODIFY and DELETE vs FULL. However in Cognos (since 2003) - there has never been a distinction between MODIFY and DELETE. If you can WRITE, you can also delete and this has always been an issue when it comes to giving users access to a folder where they have WRITE access.

It would be extremely useful and helpful if there was a new level introduced in Cognos ANalytics such that we would have a distinction between WRITE (aka Modify) and DELETE.
