Cognos 11.0.7 - Ability to hide/edit 'Quick reference' links from Welcome Page.

Links of Quick reference included to the Welcome page are not relevant to our business users - we'd like to be able to hide them or replace with business related references.

    This illustration outlines how to safely remove the Quick reference section from the Cognos home. The Quick reference section is rendered as a <div> with a named class of homeReferenceContainer. One solution is to simply hide it using javascript. It is helpful to locate the exact <div> by pressing F12 in the Chrome web browser and drilling down / selecting the homeReferenceContainer element within the body of the html:

    As of Cognos Analytics 11.1.4, the Quick Reference section has been removed and replaced by a more functional Welcome section, which can be hidden by individual users or disabled completely globally.

    I had the same requirement to remove the "Quick Reference" menu. This now works in the 11.1.2 release.

    You need a custom view with the spec json excluding the "com.ibm.bi.bahome_common.quickReferences" item.

    {
        "name":"SampleConsumers",
        "schemaVersion": "1.0",
        "comment": "Extensions for Consumers role in Sample.",
        "extensions": [
        {
            "perspective": "home",
            "comment": "Removes content that is not useful or usable for the role.",
            "features": [{
                "id": "wfg.homePerspective.excludeItems",
                "excludeItems":["com.ibm.bi.bahome_common.quickReferences", "com.ibm.bi.glass.common"],
                "comment": "Consumers will not understand the quick references since they are focused on content authors."
            }]
        }]
    }
