Lower CPU consumption in CDC for Db2 z/OS (local capture): Modify IIDR CDC for z/OS to reduce its priced general CPU consumption by moving some consistent CPU processing to zIIP

This Request for Enhancement is to modify IIDR CDC for z/OS to reduce its priced general CPU consumption by moving some consistent CPU processing to non-priced zIIP eligible processing. IIDR CDC is a large general CPU consumer in our shop resulting in a high cost of ownership and an inhibitor to more CDC exploitation. During the month of July CDC was the highest CPU user at 15.34% of our MSUs for the LPAR it ran on during the day's peak.

    Hi,

Yes, we know about the "CDC Replication Engine for Db2® for z/OS® Remote Source" product but this is no solution (not useable) for IIDR CDC customers like us who use IIDR CDC to replicate data from Db2 for z/OS to Db2 for z/OS. So, pls. consider to make the IIDR CDC for z/OS workload zIIP eligible. Thank you.

This looks to be what you're looking for :

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSTRGZ_11.4.0/com.ibm.cdcdoc.cdcdb2zremote.doc/concepts/overview.html

The CDC Replication Engine for Db2® for z/OS® Remote Source is a new replication engine for IBM® Data Replication as of version 11.4.0.1.

This engine provides full source-side replication capability for Db2 for z/OS with a minimal footprint on z/OS. The replication engine is installed on a distributed platform (Linux, UNIX, or Windows) and after initial setup is entirely administered and maintained on that platform.
