SLC's security policy is to have /tmp mounted with noexec option.
if this default (Non changeable) installation directory has sufficient/free space as it should the installation fails. The only option is to temporarily fill the file system so that the installer chooses another installation directory. It is a worrying factor for the client not afford to have the 24/7 production environment affected by the lack of space in /tmp even if it is for a very short period of time.
If there is any way that the alternate install directory could be chosen at the beginning of the process this would eliminate the problem.
