Export and Import Expressions To Management Console

Currently in Management Console if you want to use Expressions created by a co-worker the only way to utilized the Expression is to get the text from your co-worker and key it in. This is also the case when you first start using Management Console and if you are switched to a new machine and need to install MC for the first time. We have several dozen expressions that we use in a variety of subscriptions.

Recently I was forced to install Management Console on a new machine. Because we do not have the capability to Export Expressions as we do with Projects and Subscriptions I had to create all of our developed expressions manually. This required several hours of work. Fortunately we maintain a 'backup' in the form of a Word document so that we can cut and paste the Expressions. If I could have done an Import of expressions I could have had this done in a matter of minutes rather than hours.

Coincidentally I was also on-call when this occurred and one problem required the use of one of our existing expressions. Unfortunately for me it took much longer to resolve the issue because I had to create the needed Expression rather than Import my Expressions that existed in my previous Management Console.

    IBM update.

    Thanks for filing this requirement. After review we think that the best approach would be to file a support request that focusses on asking for guidance on the best approaches to addressing this concern. We think that there are likely ways to use existing capabilities to achieve the obejctives.
