In the last few days we have had a situation in some customer with SAP on IBM i running, in which due to the characteristics of modernization of the database to adapt it for the use of new technologies, we have seen an increase in the requirement to use XML fields in the database and we have to replicate this field. This field is not currently supported by the IBM Infosphere Data Replication (CDC) replication tool in IBM i.

IBM Update
We are targeting Q3 2025 to deliver a solution to this requirement.
Note that changes to XML data that are above a certain size (we don’t know what the size threshold is on Db2 I yet) are not logged and the planned mechanism to replicate larger size xml documents would require database reads. More to come in our relevant future documentation.
Davendra, we are another customer, here with the same requeriment. We put our XML on BLOB an lose all the DB beneficts for the CDC datatype limitation.
Hi Davendra, I didn't realize this requirement was out here when I opened CDC-I-693 earlier this week: IBM Ideas. I'm updating here to tie them together and also with the LUG requirement.
IBM Update.
Thanks for filing this requirement. We think that the requirement is valid. However, at this time, we have not prioritized addressing the requirement on our committed roadmap. We will revisit this requirement as we plan our roadmap milestones for 2025-2026. Additional customer feedback would be helpful to aid us with future prioritization.
