Truist is on a slow transition path from using on prem analytical databases to Snowflake. For the transition period of 2-5 years they want to have the same analytical data both in on prem stores Exadata, Cloudera, Db2 WH and Netezza and a copy in Snowflake. At their current point, Truist doesn't want to rewrite ETL jobs that bring data into their current DWHs, but replicate from on prem DWHs to Snowflake.
Logging for columnar tables already exists in Db2 and QRep can replicate by reading this new type of logs, so only CDC development efforts are required, as far as I understand.
